A Natchez Christmas Carol - December 2-22, 2013
In this heartwarming adaptation of Charles Dickens' story of greed redeemed by goodness, Ebenezer Scrooge, the stingy owner of a Natchez bank and cotton brokerage, thinks charity is just a way for lazy bums to get a handout. He takes advantage of newly freed slaves from the Civil War just as eagerly as he repossesses the property of the once prosperous Natchez planters and merchants who lost their fortunes because of it. In a dream Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, an equally stingy old miser. Marley and three other ghosts lead Scrooge on a Christmas Eve journey that teaches him the value of love and charity.

Twenty-seven antebellum mansions, most of them being private residences, open their homes to visitors for a four-week pilgrimage excursion every spring. Your guides are costumed, family friends and descendants of the original home owners, whose stories are as real as the bricks and mortar in their hearths. Each house is unique and eye-catching, with 18th and 19th century decor, furnishings, porcelain, silver, tools, documents and diaries.
