One of the oldest surviving residential structures of the Spanish period in Natchez, the Governor Holmes House was built under a Spanish land grant dated 1794.

David Holmes was first appointed Territorial Governor in 1809, then became the first Governor of Mississippi in 1817.  The Gov. Holmes Suite overlooks the private courtyard and has a private entrance through the courtyard gate.  Amenities include a Queen Pencil post bed and full bath with tub/shower combo.  A separate sitting room holds a twin daybed and fireplace.
